Metoprolol is used to treat high blood pressure. It is a beta-blocker that affects the heart and blood circulation and it is also used to prevent angina (chest pain). This medication is reported to improve survival after a heart attack. How to use Take this drug exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Take before or after a full meal. Take this medicine at the same time each day. Possible side effects May cause dizziness, lethargy, confusion, memory problems, nightmares, trouble sleeping, diarrhea, itching and skin rash.
