Metoprolol is used to treat high blood pressure. It is a beta-blocker that affects the heart and blood circulation and it is also used to prevent angina (chest pain). This medication is reported to improve survival after a heart attack. How to use Take this drug exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Take before or after a full meal. Take this medicine at the same time each day. Possible side effects May cause dizziness, lethargy, confusion, memory problems, nightmares, trouble sleeping, diarrhea, itching and skin rash. If symptoms worsen, contact your doctor. Precautions Tell your doctor if you have heart problems such as heart block, sick sinus syndrome, slow heart rate, circulation problems, or allergies to drugs. Do not take this drug if you are pregnant.
